DBT is typically offered as a full one year programme of groups, individual therapy and crisis coaching. This was the original form of DBT developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan, to support those with BPD, maladaptive coping behaviours, intense emotions and significant difficulties with interpersonal relationships.
DBT skills are taught by the therapist and cover these four modules: Core Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation and Interpersonal Effectiveness.
